AMD GPU driver can crash Linux if malformed request is sent
published 5 months ago
Summary
The Linux kernel's AMD graphics driver could stop the whole system when an untrusted application sends a specially crafted command. The problem was caused by a check that caused the kernel to panic instead of just warning about the error. The driver has been updated to log the issue without crashing, protecting the system from unexpected shutdowns.
