CVE-2026-96678: spring-boot-forum avatar upload can access unauthorized files
CVE-2026-96678 · published 26 days ago
Summary
The avatar upload feature in the spring-boot-forum application does not properly check the username field, allowing an attacker to trick the system into reading or writing files outside the intended folder. This could let a remote user view or change server files, which may expose sensitive data or disrupt service. Fix the code to strictly validate and sanitize the username or use a safe library, and apply any patches the developer releases as soon as they are available.
