CVE-2026-93681: Tutor LMS allows logged‑in users to run malicious scripts

CVE-2026-93681 · published 19 days ago
Summary

The Tutor LMS plugin for WordPress (versions up to 4.1.0) does not properly clean the display name field, so users with subscriber access or higher can embed harmful code. That code runs whenever anyone views the affected page, potentially stealing data or hijacking sessions. Update the plugin to a newer version or apply the vendor’s patch to stop this behavior.

What to do

The CVE record does not list a fixed version. Check the vendor's site or the advisory links below - a fix may already be released.

Original advisory text
Tutor LMS <= 4.1.0 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via display_name Parameter
The Tutor LMS – eLearning and online course solution plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via display_name Parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.1.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that a Legal Consent record exists for the attacker's user account, causing the View Logs button to appear in the wp-admin/users.php Consent Logs column.
