CVE-2026-60008: Gitea notebook view can be tricked to hide clicks

CVE-2026-60008 · published 4 days ago
Summary

When Gitea shows Jupyter notebooks, it adds information from the notebook into a style tag without cleaning it. A crafted notebook can insert extra style classes that create an invisible layer over the page, causing users to click on something they cannot see. Update Gitea to the latest version or apply the provided patch to ensure notebook content is properly sanitized.

Original advisory text
Gitea Jupyter notebook UI redress through CSS class injection
Gitea's Jupyter notebook renderer inserts the notebook's language_info.name metadata into a CSS class attribute while disabling sanitization and rendering directly in the main document without an iframe sandbox. A malicious repository notebook can supply multiple CSS classes that create a viewport-covering overlay and intercept clicks when another user views it. The reported impact is UI redress; script execution was not demonstrated.
