CVE-2026-14978: hashicorp/go-slug may leak sensitive files in uploads

CVE-2026-14978 · published 2 months ago
Summary

Versions 0.4.0 through 0.18.2 of the go-slug component used by Terraform can be tricked by a local user to ignore the .terraformignore file and include private files when a slug is uploaded. This happens because the software does not correctly handle certain Unicode characters when checking file paths. Upgrade to a newer version of go-slug or apply the vendor's recommended patch to restore proper file filtering.
