CVE-2026-120203: ShowDoc allows logged‑in users to run commands

CVE-2026-120203 · published 3 days ago
Summary

If you run ShowDoc version 2.8.14 up to but not including 3.9.6, a feature used for testing can be abused by anyone with a valid account to run operating‑system commands on the server. This can let an attacker take control of the host, especially the official Docker container which runs as the root user. Upgrade ShowDoc to version 3.9.6 or later, or disable the Mock feature if you cannot upgrade.

What to do
  • Update showdoc showdoc to version 3.9.6 or later.

Original advisory text
ShowDoc 2.8.14 before 3.9.6 Code Injection via Mock Templates
ShowDoc 2.8.14 before 3.9.6 contains a code injection vulnerability in its Mock feature that allows authenticated users to execute shell commands through mockjs templates. Attackers can store a template via MockController::add with escaped parentheses that mockjs evaluates with eval(), then trigger it through MockController::infoByKey to run commands, as root in the official Docker image.
