CVE-2026-111151: OpenJPH may crash or be compromised by crafted images

CVE-2026-111151 · published 20 days ago
Summary

The OpenJPH library (versions up to 0.32.0) can write beyond its memory limits when it decodes specially crafted .j2c or .jph image files with small precinct sizes. This can corrupt memory, cause the program to crash, or allow an attacker to take control. Upgrade to a newer version of OpenJPH or avoid processing untrusted image files to mitigate the risk.

OpenJPH through 0.32.0 Heap Out-of-Bounds Write in HTJ2K Cleanup-Pass Decoder
OpenJPH through 0.32.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the HTJ2K cleanup-pass decoder that allows attackers to corrupt memory via one-row codeblocks. Attackers can supply a crafted .j2c or .jph codestream with small precinct sizes, causing the decoder to write a second row past the codeblock buffer, resulting in memory corruption and crashes.
