CVE-2026-109245: FreeRDP may let attackers spoof Azure login

CVE-2026-109245 · published 3 days ago
Summary

Versions of FreeRDP 3.0.0 up to 3.31.0 on Debian can complete a secure connection without checking the server's certificate. This means a malicious network operator could pretend to be Microsoft’s Azure login site and steal authentication codes. Upgrade FreeRDP to version 3.32.0 or later to restore proper certificate checking.

What to do
  • Update debian freerdp3 to version 3.32.0+dfsg-1.

Original advisory text
FreeRDP 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 Improper Certificate Validation in freerdp_http_request
FreeRDP 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 contains an improper certificate validation vulnerability in freerdp_http_request() in libfreerdp/utils/http.c that completes TLS handshakes without verifying the server certificate chain. On-path attackers can impersonate login.microsoftonline.com in the Azure AD authentication flow to capture OAuth authorization codes and substitute the OpenID discovery document.
