CVE-2025-31947: Mattermost can lock external LDAP accounts after failed logins
CVE-2025-31947 · published 1 year ago
Summary
Versions of Mattermost up to 10.6.1, 10.5.2, 10.4.4, and 9.11.11 do not stop repeated sign‑in attempts from locking user accounts stored in an external directory service (LDAP). An attacker could deliberately cause a legitimate user's account to become unavailable. Upgrade to a version that fixes the issue or apply the vendor’s recommended update as soon as possible.

Original advisory text
Repeated LDAP login failures can lock an LDAP account
Mattermost versions 10.6.x <= 10.6.1, 10.5.x <= 10.5.2, 10.4.x <= 10.4.4, 9.11.x <= 9.11.11 fail to lockout LDAP users following repeated login failures, which allows attackers to lock external LDAP accounts through repeated login failures through Mattermost.
