CVE-2025-30629: Bitly URL Shortener can be tricked into unwanted actions
CVE-2025-30629 · published 1 year ago
Summary
The Bitly URL Shortener (versions up to 1.4.1) does not verify that requests come from a legitimate user, allowing a malicious website to make the shortener perform actions on behalf of an authenticated user without their consent. This could let attackers create, modify, or delete shortened links without the user realizing it. To protect your site, update the plugin to the latest version or apply patches that add proper request verification.
