CVE-2024-49648: rafasashi SVG Captcha can let attackers inject scripts

CVE-2024-49648 · published 2 years ago
Summary

The SVG Captcha library (versions up to 1.0.11) does not properly clean the data it shows on a web page. An attacker could craft a link that, when clicked, runs unwanted code in the visitor’s browser, potentially stealing information or hijacking the session. Update to a newer version or disable the captcha until the code is corrected, and make sure any user‑provided text is filtered before being displayed.
