CVE-2024-24790: Go 1.19 misidentifies IPv4‑mapped IPv6 addresses

CVE-2024-24790 · published 2 years ago
Summary

In Go version 1.19, the network address utilities do not correctly recognise IPv4‑mapped IPv6 addresses as private or loopback, so checks that rely on these results may give false negatives. This can cause software to treat internal or local traffic as external, potentially breaking security or routing logic. Upgrade to a newer Go version or apply the provided patch to fix the address checks.

Unexpected behavior from Is methods for IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses in net/netip
