CVE-2023-20577: AMD EPYC, Instinct MI300A, Ryzen 3000 may execute attacker code

CVE-2023-20577 · published 2 months ago
Summary

AMD 2nd‑, 3rd‑, and 4th‑generation EPYC servers, Instinct MI300A accelerators, and Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs contain a memory‑overflow bug in their system‑management code. If an attacker already has a way to write to the computer’s flash firmware, this bug can let them run any program they choose with full system privileges. Install the latest firmware updates from AMD and restrict any access that could modify the flash memory.
