CVE-2018-16741: mgetty may run unintended commands when activating fax jobs

CVE-2018-16741 · published 8 years ago
Summary

The mgetty program (versions before 1.2.1) does not filter special characters in the fax activation command. An attacker could insert characters like && or > into a fax job file and cause the system to execute arbitrary commands. Update mgetty to version 1.2.1 or later, or apply a patch that correctly sanitizes input.
