CVE-2016-9597: libxml2 may crash, causing service outage
CVE-2016-9597 · published 8 years ago
Summary
The recent update for Red Hat JBoss Core Services did not actually fix a known flaw in the libxml2 library. Systems that use libxml2 – such as Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, and HP IceWall Federation Agent or File Manager – can still be forced to stop working if an attacker sends specially‑crafted data. Apply any newer patches from your vendor as soon as they are released and verify that the libxml2 fix is included.
What to do
The CVE record does not list a fixed version. Check the vendor's site or the advisory links below - a fix may already be released.
