CVE-2016-1956: Firefox on Linux may crash with Intel graphics

CVE-2016-1956 · published 10 years ago
Summary

Versions of Firefox older than 45 running on Linux with an Intel video driver can be forced to use a WebGL feature that makes the browser consume excess memory or corrupt its internal data, causing it to stop working. An attacker who can send specially crafted web content could make a user's browser become unresponsive or crash. Update Firefox to version 45 or newer, or disable WebGL, to eliminate the risk.
