CVE-2016-0929: RabbitMQ for PCF logs command lines, exposing credentials

CVE-2016-0929 · published 10 years ago
Summary

The metrics‑collection component in RabbitMQ for Pivotal Cloud Foundry versions 1.6.x prior to 1.6.4 records the full command lines of commands that fail. This can let an attacker who can read those logs see sensitive data such as passwords that were part of the command. Update to version 1.6.4 or later, or restrict log access, to stop the exposure.

The metrics-collection component in RabbitMQ for Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) 1.6.x before 1.6.4 logs command lines of failed commands, which might allow context-dependent attackers to obtain sensitive information by reading the log data, as demonstrated by a syslog message that contains credentials from a command line.
