CVE-2015-3661: QuickTime before 7.7.7 lets attackers run code via malicious file
CVE-2015-3661 · published 11 years ago
Summary
Apple QuickTime versions earlier than 7.7.7 on older macOS releases can be tricked by a specially crafted media file, allowing a remote attacker to run unwanted programs or crash the system. This happens because the program mishandles the file's data, corrupting memory. Updating QuickTime to version 7.7.7 or later, or applying the latest macOS updates, resolves the risk.
What to do
