CVE-2015-1792: OpenSSL may freeze when processing malformed S/MIME messages

CVE-2015-1792 · published 11 years ago
Summary

Certain older versions of OpenSSL can get stuck in an endless loop when they receive specially crafted S/MIME data that includes an unknown hash identifier. This can cause the affected system to stop responding, effectively a denial of service. Upgrade OpenSSL to a version newer than 0.9.8zg, 1.0.0s, 1.0.1n, or 1.0.2b, or apply the vendor's patch to fix the issue.
