CVE-2013-2111: Dovecot IMAP can be crashed by malformed APPEND request
CVE-2013-2111 · published 12 years ago
Summary
Versions of Dovecot before 2.2.2 that handle email via IMAP can be forced into an endless loop when they receive a badly formed APPEND command. This consumes server CPU and can make the mail service unavailable. Upgrade Dovecot to version 2.2.2 or later, or apply the vendor's patch, to stop the issue.
What to do
The CVE record does not list a fixed version. Check the vendor's site or the advisory links below - a fix may already be released.
