CVE-2011-3225: macOS 10.7 SMB server lets any guest view restricted folders
CVE-2011-3225 · published 15 years ago
Summary
On Mac OS X 10.7 (including the server version) before update 10.7.2, the SMB file‑sharing feature does not stop guest users from seeing the internal record of a folder that should be hidden from them. This means a remote attacker could use a generic "nobody" account to view files that were meant to be private. Apply the 10.7.2 update or later to correct the sharing controls.
What to do
The CVE record does not list a fixed version. Check the vendor's site or the advisory links below - a fix may already be released.

The SMB File Server component in Apple Mac OS X 10.7 before 10.7.2 does not prevent all guest users from accessing the share point record of a guest-restricted folder, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended browsing restrictions by leveraging access to the nobody account.
