CVE-2010-3971: Internet Explorer 6-8 may be hijacked or crashed by CSS

CVE-2010-3971 · published 15 years ago
Summary

Internet Explorer versions 6 through 8 can be tricked into running malicious code or crashing when a specially crafted web page includes a self‑referencing @import rule in its stylesheet. This happens because the browser’s CSS parser mishandles memory, allowing an attacker to take control or cause the program to stop working. Apply the latest security updates from Microsoft or use a newer browser to protect your systems.
