CVE-2010-1850: MySQL can let remote users run code via long names

CVE-2010-1850 · published 16 years ago
Summary

Versions 5.0 up to 5.0.91 and 5.1 before 5.1.47 are vulnerable to a buffer overflow when a remote user sends a very long table name in a COM_FIELD_LIST request. An attacker who can log in could cause the server to run whatever code they choose, potentially compromising the database. Update MySQL to a newer, patched version or restrict remote MySQL access until the upgrade is applied.
