CVE-2010-1439: yum-rhn-plugin on RHEL 5 and Fedora exposes login data
CVE-2010-1439 · published 16 years ago
Summary
The yum-rhn-plugin on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Fedora stores a file called loginAuth.pkl with permissions that let any user on the system read it. This lets a local user see the Red Hat Network login details and could stop the system from receiving future updates. Fix it by resetting the file permissions to restrict access or applying the latest security update from Red Hat.

yum-rhn-plugin in Red Hat Network Client Tools (aka rhn-client-tools) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 and Fedora uses world-readable permissions for the /var/spool/up2date/loginAuth.pkl file, which allows local users to access the Red Hat Network profile, and possibly prevent future security updates, by leveraging authentication data from this file.
