CVE-2009-4174: CuteNews editors can modify any article without approval

CVE-2009-4174 · published 16 years ago
Summary

The editnews feature in CuteNews version 1.4.6 and older UTF‑8 CuteNews releases lets users with Journalist or Editor rights change previously submitted stories without going through moderation, if a server setting called magic_quotes_gpc is turned off. This means an attacker with a low‑level account could alter content they should not control. Apply the latest CuteNews updates or re‑enable the magic_quotes_gpc setting to stop the unauthorized changes.
