CVE-2007-4513: IBM AIX 5.2/5.3 local users can gain admin rights

CVE-2007-4513 · published 19 years ago
Summary

A coding error in the command-line tools lqueryvg and lquerypv on IBM AIX 5.2 and 5.3 lets a local user supply an overly long argument that overwrites memory and elevates their privileges. This means a regular user could obtain administrator-level access on the system. Apply IBM's security updates or upgrade to a newer AIX release, and limit who can run these commands until the fix is in place.
