CVE-2007-4236: AIX lpd service lets privileged printer users become root
CVE-2007-4236 · published 19 years ago
Summary
On AIX 5.2 and 5.3, the printer daemon (lpd) can be tricked by a user who belongs to the printq group into executing code with full system privileges. This could let that user gain complete control over the server. Apply the latest IBM security update for AIX and restrict the printq group to only trusted accounts.
