CVE-2007-3152: c-ares lets attackers guess DNS transaction IDs
CVE-2007-3152 · published 19 years ago
Summary
The c-ares library creates DNS request IDs using a predictable random seed. This makes it possible for an outsider to guess the ID and fake DNS replies, potentially redirecting traffic. Upgrade to c-ares version 1.4.0 or later, or apply the vendor's patch, to use a truly random seed.
What to do
The CVE record does not list a fixed version. Check the vendor's site or the advisory links below - a fix may already be released.
