CVE-2007-1856: Vixie Cron on Gentoo lets local users halt jobs

CVE-2007-1856 · published 19 years ago
Summary

On Gentoo systems, the Vixie Cron program is installed with permissions that are too open. A user who has access to the system can create special links that cause the scheduler to stop working, which means scheduled tasks will no longer run. Update to the latest version of Vixie Cron or reinstall it with the recommended, more restrictive permissions to prevent this from happening.
