CVE-2005-1402: Mtp-Target 1.2.2 may crash from crafted input

CVE-2005-1402 · published 21 years ago
Summary

Versions of Mtp-Target up to 1.2.2 use an older NeL library that mishandles certain numeric values. An attacker on the network can send specially crafted data that makes the server consume excessive memory or stop working completely. Update to a newer version of Mtp-Target or apply the vendor’s patch to prevent this.

Integer signedness error in certain older versions of the NeL library, as used in Mtp-Target 1.2.2 and earlier, and possibly other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption or server crash) via a negative value in a STLport call, which is not caught by a signed comparison.
