CVE-2004-2731: Linux kernel Sbus driver lets local user run code

CVE-2004-2731 · published 21 years ago
Summary

The Sbus PROM driver in the Linux kernel (versions 2.4 up to 2.4.27 and 2.6 up to 2.6.7) can be tricked into miscalculating memory sizes. This allows someone with local access to run their own programs with the kernel's privileges. Apply the latest kernel updates or patches that fix the driver to remove the risk.
