CVE-2004-2111: Serv-U FTP Server lets attackers run code with long filenames

CVE-2004-2111 · published 21 years ago
Summary

A programming mistake in Serv-U FTP Server before version 4.2 allows a specially crafted, overly long file name to overflow memory and let an attacker run their own code on the server. This could give a remote attacker control of the system. Upgrade to version 4.2 or later and apply any available security patches, and consider restricting allowed file name lengths as a temporary mitigation.
