CVE-2004-0583: Webmin and Usermin let attackers guess passwords

CVE-2004-0583 · published 22 years ago
Summary

The login lockout feature in Webmin 1.140 and Usermin 1.070 does not handle some input correctly, so an attacker can repeatedly try different usernames and passwords without being blocked. This makes it easier to guess valid accounts. Apply the latest security updates or upgrade to newer versions that fix the lockout handling.
