CVE-2002-0414: FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD IPsec may forward forged packets

CVE-2002-0414 · published 24 years ago
Summary

The IPsec security feature in FreeBSD 4.5, NetBSD 1.5.2, and similar systems does not correctly check its security policy rules, allowing a gateway that does not use encryption to accidentally forward fake IPv4 traffic. This can let attackers send counterfeit data through your network without detection. Update to a patched version of the operating system or apply the vendor's security update to ensure policies are enforced correctly.
