CVE-2000-0659: AnalogX proxy server can crash from long user ID

CVE-2000-0659 · published 26 years ago
Summary

The AnalogX proxy server (version 4.04 and earlier) can be forced to stop working if an attacker sends a specially crafted SOCKS4 request with an overly long user ID. This causes the server to overflow its memory buffer, leading to a denial of service where legitimate users lose access. Update to a newer version or apply the vendor's patch to prevent the crash.
